Our Story
MateBio originated as a University of California San Francisco (UCSF) spin-off aimed at harnessing the power of SPOKE.
Our Mission is to support academic, clinical, and pharmaceutical researchers in understanding diseases and biological complexity better and bringing new products to the market faster.

Our Technology
At the core of Mate’s technology is the Scalable Precision Medicine Knowledge Engine (SPOKE), a “database of databases” that integrates existing biomedical knowledge into a graph database developed at UCSF.
The scope of SPOKE is unlike any graph currently available to consumers. It intelligently brings together information at the smallest (molecular) to largest (phenotypic) levels. Together with our proprietary algorithms, it crosses disciplines to instantly bring researchers the information they need and interpret their data in a multi-domain fashion.
At Mate Bio, we recognize the challenges of navigating the vast and complex landscape of biomedical data. Traditional approaches have struggled to connect the dots and unlock the full potential of this information.
Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, biochemists, pharmacologists, drug developers, and computer scientists takes a different approach. We start with a deep understanding of the underlying biological mechanisms and design our systems with the user in mind.
This unique expertise allows us to support our partners in their research and drug development efforts by speaking their language and providing intuitive tools that translate complex data into actionable insights.
